How Innovafeed Structured Its IT Management with Primo

Innovafeed is a leading biotech company specializing in insect farming to create natural ingredients for animal and plant nutrition. Founded in 2016, the company has raised over $400 million and operates several production sites in France, with the ambition to feed the world sustainably.
Joining Innovafeed as IT Director, Assane Dembélé faced a challenge common to fast-growing companies: structuring a fleet of 250 workstations with no centralized MDM, and with manual onboarding and offboarding processes. External vendors tested did not meet expectations. Intune, considered as an alternative, proved too costly. A complete, flexible solution calibrated for a predominantly Windows environment was needed.
Innovafeed chose Primo after thorough market research, won over by its flexibility and attentiveness. Working closely with the Primo teams, Assane deployed the agent via GPOs across all 250 Windows workstations, with no action required from end users. Primo is now connected to their HR tool, automatically managing onboarding, offboarding, and Google Workspace account provisioning.
- Full visibility across 250 workstations, no device out of scope
- EDR antivirus deployment automated through Primo
- Onboarding and offboarding synchronized with the HR tool
- Google Workspace account management directly from Primo
- Remote lock and wipe in case of non-return
An IT setup to structure before Primo
When Assane Dembélé takes over IT at Innovafeed, the challenge is immediate: structuring the management of a rapidly expanding fleet in a company whose growth had outpaced the deployment of dedicated IT tools. Without a centralized MDM, visibility over workstations remains partial. Onboarding and offboarding processes still rely on manual actions, and some devices fall outside fleet tracking.
To structure the management, the team first tests specialized external vendors, without results that meet their needs. They then evaluate Intune, but the solution proves too costly. After thorough market research, Primo emerges as the answer, thanks to its flexibility and ability to adapt to specific requirements.
Deploying across 250 predominantly Windows workstations
Innovafeed today manages 250 workstations, primarily on Windows. This configuration required a tailored approach. The initial challenge: deploying the Primo agent without any action from end users. Working closely with the Primo teams, Assane develops GPOs (Group Policy Objects) to automate the installation. An iterative process, punctuated by regular exchanges and adjustments, resulting in a smooth deployment across all of the company’s sites.
The result: full visibility across every device in the fleet, with no “ghost” device that could slip through updates or security policies. Primo is now the central point of fleet management, including for EDR antivirus deployment.
Onboarding, offboarding, and security unified in Primo
One of Primo’s most structuring contributions to Innovafeed lies in its connection with the company’s HR tool. As soon as an employee joins or leaves, the information is automatically reflected in Primo. Device assignment or removal, along with Google Workspace account provisioning or revocation, are managed directly from the interface — no need to log into the Google console, no need to coordinate with HR teams.
In the event of non-return of equipment, the IT team can remotely lock or wipe the device as soon as the user connects to the internet. The policy applies instantly, forcing the laptop to be returned to the site. An operational safety net, critical for a multi-site company in full growth.
