MDM, Primo AI

Challenge

Beyond Aero adopted Primo in April 2024, when the company had no MDM at all. The decision was made by the founding team: IT was still one responsibility among many, the Fleet was growing fast, and there was no centralised way to know the state of a device. A year later, the company hired a dedicated IT engineer, and the ambition changed. Eric Hoppé took over the whole scope alone, and set out to use Primo to raise the level of the company's IT and Compliance: enforcing policies, closing security gaps, and building a setup efficient enough for one person to run a growing fleet on his own.

Solution

Primo became Beyond Aero's IT cockpit, unifying Device Management, Compliance reporting and remote control.

With Primo, Eric no longer checks the Fleet by hand. The AI agents take on the routine monitoring and reporting, and he steps in only when something needs a decision. He leans on the same AI for his product questions rather than searching documentation.

Results

From no MDM to a structured Fleet

When Beyond Aero chose Primo in April 2024, the company had around 40 employees, a mixed Mac and Windows Fleet, and no Device Management in place. Devices were bought from a local Apple reseller, from Dell, sometimes directly online. There was no single place to see what existed, who used it, or how it was configured. The founders evaluated the market and signed within the week, with one of the three co-founders taking the platform in hand directly.

A year later, in March 2025, Eric Hoppé joined as System Administrator & IT Technician and took over the entire scope. He rebuilt the inventory and device assignments, and became the single point of contact for everything touching Device Management, Google Workspace and internal IT.

"I discovered Primo on the job when I arrived. I knew other MDMs, Intune and others. I trained myself on it, with some help from Primo AI Agent."

Today the Fleet has grown to 74 devices, with EDR deployed. Eric manages all of it alone.

Turning manual checks into AI agents

The shift came when Eric started using Primo's agents not to answer questions, but to do the work on a schedule. Several agents now run for him.

The first monitors disk space. Below 10% free, it emails the affected employee directly with a short remediation procedure, then sends Eric a report listing everyone approaching a critical threshold.

"That's something I used to do by hand. I would go into Fleet, filter the Macs, filter the Windows machines, and check them one by one. Now it runs every Friday, the employees get their personalised email, and I get the list."

Another one is the one he calls the most important: a weekly report covering device compliance, assignment and security metrics, sent to him and to the co-founder he reports to. It is what he uses to work through concrete compliance gaps. Some workstations arrive on Windows Home, and certification requires Windows Pro to enable BitLocker.

"It lets me bring that list down gradually and see which devices are compliant as I go. I can see the room for improvement across the whole fleet."

Configuring MDM Controls in a conversation

The AI has also changed how Eric configures the platform. Rather than searching the documentation, he uses it to build the specific MDM Controls he wants, team by team, and to audit what is already in place against good practice.

"Instead of going into a knowledge base, using a search bar and hoping the right article is there, I have the relevant points at the moment I need them. It saves a lot of time. I email support far less than I used to."

Next step: an AI that acts, under Eric's rules

Eric is convinced his role is about to change with AI, and he has been deliberately experimenting to stay ahead of it.

"I can clearly see the profession is changing with AI. As in many sectors, and in ours even more so. There is real added value to draw from all of this."

Beyond Aero is preparing a formal IT and security audit covering cybersecurity metrics. For a one-person IT function, agents are how the processes get set up once and then hold, with an alert whenever something needs attention.

"We'll need to be compliant on a lot more metrics. The agents are going to help a great deal, because I'm alone. I need the follow-up to run without me spending my time on it."

His priority is Onboarding, with roughly fifty arrivals expected over the coming year. The steps are repetitive, they depend on HR data, and they vary slightly between Mac and Windows.

"Most of the time it's the same scenario repeating. There's no real added value in me spending time on it. But we need to keep our hand in, to know what's been done, what hasn't, and whether the steps were respected."

That is precisely one of Primo’s agents. Based on the policies IT defines, it orders the device, applies the Policies tied to the employee's role, provisions SaaS accounts, and creates the day-one tasks. It works the way Eric describes wanting it to work:

  • Context-aware, driven by HR data: team, role, start date, location
  • Policy-driven, following the equipment Policies, access rules, approval flows and security standards IT has set
  • Human in the loop wherever IT decides validation is required
  • Transparent, on the actions taken and on Token consumption, with no surprise costs
  • Auditable, with a traceable record of every action, which is exactly what an audit asks for

An AI that acts, but never becomes a black box.
